AH-64A to AH-64D

Post by Stuart »

Okay so here's a question for you guys.

Asides from the obvious Longbow Radar and the rails for AAMs, what're the external differences between an AH-64A and a AH-64D?

I have two Airfix A kits in my stash, I was wondering what to do with the second. I have a PE set for the D glass cockpit and you can buy a resin Longbow radar and mast so that's covered.

Cheers!

The biggest external is the sponsons on the side of the nose. On the D they are much bigger

Do you know what - in all these years I've NEVER noticed that... :hmm: You're right though, they are much bigger! Oh well - that's that idea out then!

Yup, the side sponsons extend all the way forward to the FLIR turret. The Longbow Radar is optional.
