Im buying a new airbrush this afternoon!

Post by scorpiomikey »

Just not sure which one to get. They're all similar prices, and all seem to be fairly similar in performance.
Any recommendations?
My choices are.

Badger Renegade Krome.
Badger R1V Renegade Velocity.
Badger R4VJ Renegade Velocity.

I have the choice of an Anthem 155 too, but i prefer gravity feed over syphon.
All are within $20 of each other (remembering everything is significantly more expensive here in NZ) So price isnt an issue when it comes to these choices.

Primarily ive been using my Iwata Neo for models. But recently ive been getting into painting helmets for Roller Derby (only done some stencil work on my own one for now) and id like a bit of adaptability (if that makes sense)
I mostly use Tamiya acrylics.

I am not familiar with those airbrushes, so I can’t make any recommendations. I do like my Anthem, and generally speaking, I have yet to find a Badger airbrush that I did not like. Each new one just requires the time period of getting used to its operations and handling.

Went for the R4VJ.
After looking over all the options they were too similar. So it came down to price.
The R4 had a special offer where if I signed up for their special frequent buyer subscription I got a discount that absorbed the cost of the subscription and saved me a further $20 and got me free shipping.
So I went that way.
I will post pics of my helmet soon. It goes with the derby name I'm seriously considering (even refs need alter egos) and they go with my skates lol
