That is very inspiring! 
great stuff those Kiwis are pulling off to commemorate their history! Our AMPS Chapter was asked to help in a similar manner for a local Vietnam War museum, but the opening of that museum seems to be on hold for funding reasons. I do hope that they get that solved and get it moving forward to have something similar.

There was actually a national call for tabletop gamers and model makers to help paint the figurines for this. I didnt feel my skills were up to scratch so i didnt voluteer.
You can learn all the math in the 'Verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurtin' 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
