Airbrush set up with compressor

Yeah going to plan on getting the CaliforniaComp next year since it is going to be a must. What PSI are you guys running to the airbrush?

Also off topic but I am looking at matte clears, have almost all the RLM colors from Mr Color (laquer?) in my checkout box but for the clear gloss I plan to use Future diluted with windex. Plan is to run future for decals and seal the decals, apply wash and then use the acrylic mr color matte clear to add an oil filter, with a final seal coat of the mr color matte to seal the whole thing. Does this sound right? I have forgotten a lot of the techniques from long ago.

Future does not need to be diluted, thinned, etc.. It sprays “as is” from the bottle perfectly well.

As far as PSI settings go, I start out around 15-20 psi and adjust from there depending upon my paint viscosity and desired coverage/pattern look. I dial it down for my precise work, and up for wider coverage.

Thanks! Just placed my order on my brush, compressor (one to use for now), a bunch of Mr paints, cement, etc. Looks like I will be working on my kits sooner than later!

I use two Iwata Neos (one with a .5mm and the other with a .35 needle) and a HP-C+. This is the compressor that I have. It's pretty quiet and is affordable from Amazon. I have quick disconnects on all my airbrushes as well.

For my airbrushes, I use 20-23 psi for general coats, and dial it down to 15 psi for fine lines. Also, don't thin Future; it doesn't need thinning as Carlos says. Besides, Windex breaks down Future so you'd ruin your gloss coat if you do that. I use Windex to clean Future from my airbrush after use.
