Very sound reasoning, WJKunert. I want to build those engines, though. Both versions. The engines could be models unto themselves and most satisfying to build. However, what you wrote about time, energy and cash makes a lot of sense to me.

I built a 1/32 Zoukei Mura P 51K so I got to build a very detailed Merlin. ZM even includes the pistons. The engine build was 4 pages and additionally the plumbing to the radiators is included. Sometimes I think ZM goes a little overboard on detail but it makes for an engaging build.

That level of engineering gives you an option of doing a nice display of a maintenance disassembly scene. And not having to buy any AM to support such a build. But if you don’t plan on building such a display, it would be overkill. And then best to buy a kit that better suits the end vision.

That's true but I tend to favor ZM and Tamiya because everything fits the way it should. The prices are a bit higher but I tend to believe you get what you pay for..I built the 1/32 Tamiya Mosquito after it first came out and it is one of my favorite builds. I got to do two Merlins plus a lot of other nice detailing.

Yes, new tool Tamiya kits are a dream to build. ZM kits, while beautiful to behold, just don’t catch my attention for purchase for the most part, aside from their Phantoms. And so far, they are doing stuff that has already been covered adequately enough for my tastes. Now if Tamiya or ZM come out with a 1/35 M4A1 DD Tank, or M3 90mm AA gun, I’ll be first in line. Afterwards I’ll ask forgiveness of the wife for such spending. Because I know that permission will not be forthcoming ahead of time...

While I'd love to be able to build some jets in 1/32, the cost and space to build them just isn't there. I love building in my chosen scale of 1/48 cause I can go all out.

I am very "liberal" when it comes to different scales...

1/32 is at this moment the one I like and focus on, mostly thanks to Revells affordable new kits in this scale.

But I like to build also 1/72 and 1/48 if the subject is interesting.

I try not to limit myself to just one scale, excluding any, even if I see many advantages in focusing only on one scale.

I totally agree. I look at a 48th Phantom or Eagle and say that is big enough. But if space and money wasn't an issue. Yes I would. But I also like my 72nd scale and occasionally 144th and 200th

I usually build WWII in 1/32 because a 1/32 P 51 is still smaller than a 1/48 F 15, F 14, or a F 102 or 106.

Well, speaking for myself, I build in 1/72 scale because it's he perfect fit for me. Also, I can do both my aircraft and armor in the same scale. Since I also want them to be comparable to each other for the same reason that it fascinates me seeing planes in their variability; I also get to see the comparisons in size with the armor and military vehicles I build. I feel so comfortable in this scale that building anything bigger for me feels strange. I know because I have done it before for commission builds.

Anyway, I'll be following along with this as well now that I found it.

EDIT: On a related note: the "EDUARD Distributor Leaflet November 2018" Thread still refuses to open as well. I guess I won't be seeing what they have for November....
