Eyelet tool

Post by BlackSheep214 »

So far, I’ve bought some brass tubing and thin wire to make rigging points for biplane kits. The only thing I’m looking for is the tool to make the eyelets. What is the tool and where can you find one. I’ve looked in Hobby Lobby and don’t see anything similar to it. Is it some sort of grommet tool for crafting?

You might or might not find some info to help you in this article 'Rigging Scale Model Biplanes". http://austinsms.org/article_seaman.php

That website I have looked at awhile back, but no. I was asking about how or where to find this tool for making eyelets for WW 1 aircrafts.

You’re talking about the anchor turnbuckles for the rigging wires?

I’m sure it’s covered in here. This guy is in our local IPMS & AMPS Chapters. His biplane work has won multiple awards at several IPMS Nationals. Definitely a biplane guru.

The video is long...

Good video so far. I'm still at a loss on where to get the tool for making eyelets... :bored: :bag:

I do know that sometimes he uses sewing needle eyes. He will buy them in bulk and cut off the rest. Don’t what he does with the remainder of the needle.

Wow! What a great question, BlackSheep and thank you, Carlos for those ideas. I was going to suggest you send an email to ask this fella—his rigging wire is phenomenal!
