Seams. Fixing those damn seams. That's the part that bogs me down everytime.

For me it seems to be unmasking canopies without having ragged edges on the canopy frames. I always get ragged edges and even entire lengths of frames devoid of paint...


I also hate to search forever for that one part that flies off; rendering the model unable to be completed without it. I think I have three shelf queens sitting waiting for one or more parts to finally show up again.... or replacements to arrive.

The longer this thread goes on and the more things I see, I now think what I hate most in modeling is indy link tracks on armor. Especially those that require multiple pieces per track link. Very tedious, annoying, and reminds me too much of working on real tracks when I was in the army. Not much fun to be had in that task in the motor pool, and an absolute ordeal in the field...

Why do you think I don’t do Fruils? Aside from the cost... drill and pin the damn things...
Link and length is best I think. And the way some of these Asian companies are going, I would not be surprised if you see stuff like that in 1:72...

I doubt they'd do something similar to Fruils; the tracks are all a bit too small to truly do them justice in that format. Link and Length is pretty common in 1/72 scale, IBG makes all their tracks that way. Modelcollect switches back and forth, but they are trending more toward the link and length. They also offer whole sprues of link and length tracks for their modern vehicles. Dave O'Barr sent away for some replacement tracks for one of his tanks and Modelcollect sent him 15 sprues of complete track sets!

One other thing I simply HATE doing is removing big, heavy sprue gates/connections from delicate parts! I also hate where there's a step along the edge of a part and the sprue gate covers the whole side so you have to carve the excess plastic from the step without damaging the edge of the part!
