Hobby Boss 1/48 Rafale C Special Commemorative

Post by BlackSheep214 »

The Hobby Boss kit is a joy to build. Easy and zero fit issues.

This is done in 70 ans Normandie-Niemen Commemorative scheme. A little history about this scheme as seen on aftermarket decal set I had for several years.

The squadron was formed December 4, 1942 in Ivanovo (town 250 km NE Moscow). At the personal request of flight crew it was named <<Normandy>> in honor of the French province, which was most affected by the German Occupation. The Normandy squadron layer became regiment of 3 squadron of the French Air Force whose the glory spread around the world. In 2012, the famous regiment celebrated its 70th Anniversary.

The decal set was a challenge especially the large red star on top of the fuselage. Once the rear white stripes are in place, the red star went on and the final long stripes along the spine sides went on. The rest was smooth sailing. Here she is in all.her glory.

I'm not sure why there are two posts of photos here. Do you want me to delete one, Tom?

Yes please. I meant to spell Commemorative in the title line
