When I was in high school, we had a couple men here in Cameron who ran an Anglia gasser they had named "Kasper". It was painted light blue and sat on a trailer beside one guy's house. They were pretty successful with that car, racing at drag strips around Texas and surrounding states. They had a big rival in the town of Brenham, about 60 miles away. That was another Anglia named "Goldilocks", of course painted gold! We would often see that car trailering through town too. The Casper guys eventually split up and the engine builder, a true mechanical savant named Edward Moraw, teamed with a local rich guy to form a very successful drag racing team, Moraw-Culpepper-Campise. They raced a succession of cars ,including a Chevy Nomad and an amazing '63 Corvette Coupe that had some of the most beautiful aluminum work I've ever seen done on the interior by an ex-convict sheet-metaler in Hoston. They set several national records in Modified racing classes and Edward had a flourishing business doing head work (porting, polishing, etc.) for other teams. I believe he's still building engines.

I'm sure that there must be privately owned photos of those old Anglias but I couldn't find them online. I did find a few of the Nomad and one of that Corvette though.

Four photo composite of the Nomad:

Definitely some cool stuff Gary. I've been a fan of the 1320 for a LONG time now. Would love to run my truck just one time to see what kind of times it would lay down.

Me too, Joe! 👍 I've long wondered just how brief our Infiniti QX50 might be; I believe road tests back in 2017 claimed mid-14s. I know its 325 HP is the most I've ever had under foot!

325 horsepower and some sticky tires could land you somewhere in the 13's Gary. Would love to see a pass with that car.

Injector pin marks and flash.......every where. I spent over an hour just cleaning up just the frame. Looks like I've got some touch ups to do as far as paint coverage but it's not a biggie. Some progress so far.....

Is that the same color as the body, Joe?? It’s a beautiful color, buddy. Is that a custom mix?

Nice. I’ve been debating on which red to use for body color. I remember when I did mine back as a teen, I spray painted it Candy Red.

I’ll have to look in MCW paints for the red I want to use.
