Besides online stores for kits...

Post by BlackSheep214 »

Where have you found great bargains on model kits aside from the usual online stores, model shows/raffles, and eBay?

My sister always finds some in thrift stores and sends them to me.

I like finding them in antique stores. Had bought a couple in Oneida - Electic Chic Antique Mall and Little Falls Antique stores. I wonder if the old USS Boston is still there? Only one way to find out. Haven't gone to either places in a long time.

I never find any in local estate sales or garage sales.

Not too often I'll find some in other model forums. Last time I scored several kits was from Handiable (Brent) on here.

I think you have covered it. I found some at a Big Lot’s once. I have heard of people getting stuff from yard sales, etc.

mercari.com, etsy.com and bonanza.com have quite a few models and some real bargains.
Thanks,

I've heard that Ollie's has some older Revell kits but I've never seen them.

I've gotten a few kits a couple times at Ollie's. Most of the time you find them around November. Other times "supposedly" in early spring. I've never see them in spring.

IPMS & AMPS Chapter meetings are where I have found most good bargains besides old eBay… guys dumping off certain kits when newer kits of the same subject come out, or simply reducing their stash.

My best haul was from Facebook marketplace. A lady posted her, deceased, husbands stash. I jumped on as much as I had spare cash for.

Awesome haul! Send Medic one of your Jap kit!
Just busting your chops, Mike. :giggles:

I don't have a FB account nor am interested in opening an account. I have better use of my time than going on social media :bored: :giggles:

I do find kits occasionally in my local Craigslist site. Not too often though. In fact, I did send Carlos a Condor kit he was interested in thru Craigslist few years back.

This is true. I do recall that I sent you a Me-109K as part of the deal. And that I picked up from a guy at IPMS who was selling it off.

Not sure if it was a Me-109K but we did exchange for something. Can't recall what though... :bag:
