WWII fighter comparison

After doing some work on my 109, I pulled several other iconic World War Two fighters out of the display cabinets and sat them beside the Messerschmitt. Then, I realized that I had one each from four of the major players of the war, and that each airplane was once seen as near the pinnacle of performance. I lined them up on our old dining room table and took some iPhone pics so they're sure not very artistic. But they do demonstrate the relative sizes of the birds and that was something that first attracted me to scale odeling as an adult. I could compare all the latest jets and classic warbirds without having to find them together in one place in real life. And that's really why all mine are the same scale. I know; OCD.

I try to do stuff in the same scale as well - 1/48 for the same reason. Pretty interesting how little the 109 was - especially when you put it next to a P-47. I have one shelf with Axis builds a few Japanese, German and 1 Italian.

One of my obsessive reasons why I don't mix scales,its either 1/48 A/C 1/350 ships or 1/35 armor,I want to see them all in comparison to each other

Well, I'm glad to see I'm not the only OCD sufferer around here! You guys know what I mean about mixing scales.

Mike, I like those comparisons. I recently considered getting my Mirage 2000 and F-102 out of the display just to compare their delta wings!

Mig-3, La-7, Zero and 109 were all quite small compared to just about everything else in the skies. The Jug was huge compared to all the others. Then compare a modern Harrier to a F-14. They look like two different scales.

Yes sir! I did a very quick search of their dimensions because I was curious about the true sizes of these WWII warbirds relative to each other. These must be pretty close, considering slight differences between various types of each.
