Mike, I have sometimes used a fine-point lead pencil to draw the missing raised lines back onto the plane. Of course, I'm talking about very small sections. I've gently "blurred" them with a Qtip and after clear matte it looked pretty good. I believe some of that work can be seen here on the spine of this Mirage F.1:

I hear ya! I'd sooner poke myself in the eye with a hot needle than rescribe an entire model. I once encountered a guy on Britmodeller who said he loved rescribing and offered to do my AMT Viggen kit...problem was he lived in Argentina and they had some sort of excessive taxes on items shipped into the country. It would've made the entire episode too expensive. But he claimed rescribing "relaxed" him.

I've rescribed an entire model three times and I think they've come out great. Actually four since the P-3 Orion was rescribed too.

I've rescribed 4 kits, all Monogram. P-51, P-40 OS2U Kingfisher x2. I don't mind doing it. I just know that it's long task and not for those who are in a rush to get a kit finished.

It's actually the re-released Revell kit with the Case XX wing.
