Hasegawa 1/48 P-38J. Is it as bad as I have read?

Have this kit in my stash and reviews I have read said the fit is terrible. Wondering if it's worth keeping or sell it and buy the Tamiya kit instead?

If you can afford the Tamiya kit, it's no contest... get it.

I've built that kit. Its not unbuildable. It just take some modelling. I liked it. But...that being said I've heard the Tamiya is a jewel

I never built lot the Hasegawa kit but did the old 1/48 scale Revell kit as a kid.

As others said, if you can afford the Tamiya kit, get it. I've heard lots of good things about it. Hell... I want to get it myself too.

All 1/48 P-38 kits except the Tamiya take careful assembly but the Hasegawa kit is the best bet except for the Tamiya kit. If you already have it you should build it, just have a good eye when getting the tailbooms lined up. It's not a matter of bad fit, more just lots of parts that all have to be aligned properly as the build goes so you don't get additive errors.

I’ve read that the Hobbyboss kit has engineering that keeps it pretty foolproof for alignment as well. It’s not the Tamiya kit, but it’s not so pricey as the Tamiya kit either…

To say what others have said, I would go with what you've got - Hasegawa make some pretty nice kits anyway.
