Internet Hobby Scammers

Post by Tojo72 »

I saw this on Kitmaker,I thought it was great that he put it all in one place, could be helpful.

A word of caution about vendors during this time of the year.

Remember not to order from any of the vendors listed below! They have been under the PA Attorney General’s lawsuit and investigation. I just saw another modeler being scammed by them on FB posting - one of those uninformed modelers (unfortunately, this happens every year still). B/c these scums own a number of modeling websites that take your money and either never send your purchases or take forever to fulfill, so you could easily miss them and lured by their low prices.

Warning
Internet Hobbies,
Hobby Models,
Hobby Wheels,
Hobby Rails,
Hobby Book Depot,
Red Star Hobbies,
Military Model Depot,
Model Airplane Depot,
Model Railroad Depot,
Model Ship Depot,
Gundam World Online,
Model Kit Closeouts and
Model Train Closeouts

are all bad news.

Thanks, Tony! These pus filled sacks of garbage deserve a fate worse than (you fill in the blank)

I got burned by Internet Hobbies about 3 yrs ago. Sent emails, reported them everything. Got screwed out of $40. I doubt I’ll get my money back.

Add Gravity Colors USA to the list - mile long BBB list including my complaints.
The EU one is legit.

Yup... ordered mine thru Spain. Didn’t trust the US supplier after reading their reviews.

Excellent post, Tony.

Always good to be reminded which scum is which. We all know how long the legal action could take, and they'll more than likely start up another site under another name. Vigilance!

This is indeed great news and great information. I personally don't go looking for the 'best low price' from internet companies, particularly ones that aren't heard of. My list of online vendors (whenever I actually have something to spend) was gotten from all the Forums I frequent when the membership posted lists of the best places to online shop. I don't deviate from them at all.

That’s a good method Mark. Let somebody else be the crash test dummies.

I've only got a short list of online shops. Scalehobbyist, Sprue Bros, Hannants, and Seal Model. One if these four will usually have what I need

My usual first step is go to hannants. If i cant find it there ill do some googling. I'm usually really cautious and wary of any online shops.
If i cant find it through my normal channels and nobody on here knows where, then i go to my LHS and get them to order it in for me.
