Tamiya FS Color Paint Mixes

Post by Stikpusher »

I just stumbled across this chart for mixing Tamiya Paints to FS color standards. I haven’t tried any of the mixes yet to say how accurate that they may or may not be. But if you like Tamiya paints and build kits that are supposed to be in FS paint colors, here is a good starting point to mix your own.

Nice! Thanks for that.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

What a find, Carlos. Replicator was a great publication. There are mixes for US WW II, RAF/FAA, WW II UK AFV, German WW II A/C & AFV, and IDF AFV colors also.
Since they said to share the paint info, I copied it all into a word document. I will put it on my website later today so it can be downloaded.

Here is a link to a word docx file that has all of the paint charts, and a link back to the source.

Glad to help out. I don’t know how many times on various forums that somebody will ask about Tamiya paint mixes for this or that color. This is a great start point and had to share it!

This is amazing!!
Im one of the ones that keeps asking
I use an app called hobby colour converter.
It doesnt provide mixes, but it shows the closest and gives colour chips to try and help.

I often use this site:

this is a nice equivalent color chart by paint brands. Download the file to your PC

That chart has some arguable issues. FS 34087/34088, Olive Drab has two way different Humbrol choices- 66 or 155. 155 is good, but 66 is nowhere near 34087/34088.
