Losing detail when joining fuselage halves

Won't be much longer and I will be joining the fuselage halves on this Monogram 1/48 F-4C/D and I'm wondering how you go about preserving the raised panel line detail on top of the fuselage?
There are lines and small circles in the raised panel lines and after using Tamiya extra thin cement the plastic is going to soften and ooze out of the joint, which is what we want to fill in the seam. But after sanding that away when dry the details will also be sanded away.
How do you all go about restoring those details, or do you even worry about it?

Alot of times you can scribe the line back in and it won't be much different then the raised line. Other option is stretched sprue

I usually scribe in lost detail using a flexible metal template for most shapes, and other conforming straight edges for straight lines.

What scribing tool do you use?
The Hasegawa one looks nice but it's $20.
I have one from Micro Mark from years ago but I don't think it would work well for scribing circles.
Guess I could go old school and put a needle in a pin vise.

Mike, I have sometimes used a fine-point lead pencil to draw the missing raised lines back onto the plane. Of course, I'm talking about very small sections. I've gently "blurred" them with a Qtip and after clear matte it looked pretty good. I believe some of that work can be seen here on the spine of this Mirage F.1:

I use this tool alot when rescribing lines. I also use Dymo tape a great deal as well.

I usually don’t worry about such things since I’m building for me and nobody else.
