Cockpit color, Curtiss SOC-3 Seagull

My next 1/72 scale project will be the Curtiss SOC-3 Seagull seaplane (from Hasegawa)
Doing currently some research and already hit the head in the wall. What should be the correct cockpit color in the Seagull?
Again, conflicting information; aluminium, dull aluminium, different bronze green colors etc.
Any tips / ideas / info ?

Given the conversation here, it's probably aluminium lacquer or dark grey - especially some of the later comments would suggest that.

Part of that answer is dependent on what era you’re depicting? If you’re doing a “yellow wings” pre war scheme, aluminum lacquer is a good bet. Once camouflage colors started to be applied in 1940, then bronze green or interior green would be a good choice. Dark gray was never a WWII or Between the Wars era cockpit color on US aircraft. Dark Gull Gray came into use for cockpits as the standard color during the 1950’s.

Oh nice… didn’t know what the Curtiss Seagull looked like til I googled it. I wonder if they produced one in 1/48 scale.

Many thanks Carlos for the very good info! Yeah, I must still decide what era, first I was thinking of the yellow wings pre-war scheme, but I'm not sure yet.

Based on Scalemates, a company called Lone Star models has made a resin kit, but absolutely no other info what so ever, unfortunately.
