I have a mason jar of MIG's burnishing fluid that I have been saving for another set of white metal tracks, but I think it has lost its potency since I submerged a length of tracks for 45 minutes and it barely darkened it. As there is not a convenient waste disposal location to drop it off at, what would be the easiest way to completely neutralize it and get rid of it?

I'd just pour it out into the flower bed.

Correction: the neighbors flower bed.

Will it burn? Pour it in your gas tank...

I have my moments....IF it will evaporate - pour it in a pie tin and set it outside.

I've worked chemical mill and waste water treatment for 11 years. This stuff is close to cold gun blue, so if you have any garden lime like what you would use in the soil for tomatoes, just toss a handful of that in the jar put the lid on it and throw in the the trashcan. Now if you don't take about a dozen tumbs crush them up and mix it and the burnishing fluid in with around 3 gallons of water. You can then safely pour it down the drain. I run 35,000 gallon waste treatment system nightly diluting hydrofluoric acid that I use to chemical mill titanium compression blades for jet engines.

Any chemicals/hobby paints/used thinners I need to dispose of, I take it to Solid Waste where they will dispose them properly. Free for city residents.
