Thrifting for models

So I work at a Thrift store. Unfortunaly that means I cannot buy anything that I see for two days after it is priced.
But something for you all to think about, if you are looking for kits, check out thrift stores. Just today we got in an AMT 1969 Plymouth GTX and a Dodge Challenger T/A. The other day there was a monogram F106 on the shelf too.
Should you be anywhere near a thrift store, take a peak in the kids section. you never know what you might find.

Yes, I've encountered that before. Once I dropped off a load of giveaways and saw where someone had donated a brand new, still shrink-wrapped 1/72 scale F-14 Bombcat; a plane I'd been looking at for ages. I asked if I could buy it right there, but the guy said he couldn't; it had to be looked over, priced and then put out. He suggested I come back in a couple days to get it. I went back every day for a week and a half and it never showed up on the shelf that I could see. Oh well.

I do always check anyway.

Silly thrift store owners… models aren’t for kids… :giggles:

I always check them out when I'm there. Don't find models too often.

I’ve been seen a few as well. Flea markets and antique stores are good ones to find model kits. Cheap too.

Thrift stores are too expensive because my wife also goes along. Or by herself.

Over here one finds hardly ever any models in thrif shops, flea markets, 2nd hand shops etc. We do visit regulary them. My wife Nathalie loves books and them you find in these shops for practically free! The digital age is unfortunately killing books in masses..

I had luck once at a flea market. Picked up a little boat and a 1/72 Avia B.35 for 1,50 each. I also had some luck at discount stores that sell over stock.
