Saw it this morning and immediately fell in love. That bugger has some great lines and the schemes you can built oob are pretty cool. Never heard of that plane before. Can you guys tell something about it?

Sky Rocket? XF something. I have that kit but its put off for now. I've got to get back to that one soon.

The AT-9 was designed to be an advanced multiengine trainer and was a companion to the Cessna UC-78. It did not have very good flying characteristics. I remember one fellow who trained on them saying that on approach you looked through the small windows above the windscreen to see the runway. There is a very good article by Walt Boyne on the AT-9 in the February 1974 Wings magazine

It sort of resembles the Grumman Goose and Skyrocket. Although the Goose is a high wing twin engine float plane.

Looks like a lot of motor for a little trainer. Props way out in front like a Mosquito.

The engines were Lycoming R-680's, supposedly rated at 290 horsepower, but the rub was that they didn't have feathering props so with a dead engine you were stuck with the drag of a windmilling prop. Combine no climb with a nasty stall and you end up with an unfriendly airplane. But they are cute and I'm going to get one.
