Gents, I have little time and mood to do some modelling, so I began to de-chrome some parts of my 1/25 Jo-Han 1931 Cadillac Cabriolet. For this I use Dowanol, a colour thinner and remover I can get nearby from the manufacturer. For legal reasons the label on the bottle reads "Methoxypropanol" or "Propylenglykolmethylether". Aren´t those wonderful words?



The green parts are already de-chromed, and wait for some polishing. The black container contains the solvent. I keep the lid closed to prevent too much evaporation. Inside you can see a chrome part (the black ladder like thingie). I will take it out and clean it using an old toothbrush.

Such things take their time, but I am not in a hurry. And I can do other stuff when the parts are getting worked in the solvent.

Heh... I’ll bet you had to copy letter to letter to write the words. Hell, I do t even know how to pronounce it out loud.

I used household chlorine bleach which worked like a charm.

Thank you, Tojo! I try to be around as much as I can. But the boss wants to see me in the office during the week... Sigh...

Same here... where I work is full of refineries and chemical plants, both with lots of underground pipelines radiating outwards to all other areas. If we ever have a major earthquake here rupture those lines.... can you say bad day?

Hmm, sounds as if there were more attractive places to live, Carlos. Hope there won´t be such things as an earthquake...
