Models for sale on Craigslist

Saw an ad in my local craigslist of 49 kits for $500. Says they’re opened and complete and in good condition. Honestly, I think $500 is a bit too much. What would you counter offer to negotiate? Mostly aircraft, a couple cars and motorcycle kits, figures (I don’t see it in pic) and a couple armor kits (tankster and Jeep).

I would ask to meet and see the kits in person then start the negotiations at half $350 after you see what there is should help you figure out what they are worth to you.

That did come to mind. After looking over the pics, I did see 3 or 4 kits I'm interested in :Hasegawa 1/48 scale Red Star Spitfire (Russian Spitfire), 1/48 Tamiya Spitfire MkVb Trop, 1/35 Tankster/Tankette (not sure the kit brand), and 1/48 Dragon FW190 A-8

I don't know much about Dragon aircraft kits as far as fit, acurracies, etc,,, Scalemates's review is in Japanese. :bored: I do know it includes PE parts.

I was offered $35 for both Spitfire kits and the Tankster/Tankette kit.

I would ask for a list if there is none already. I would sight unseen offer half (250) asking price and see what happens (if you have the cash). Alternately you could make an offer on the kits you want and see what happens. My instincts are the same as yours—that is a lot to ask.

Here's the ad on Craigslist:

I may counter offer to $30 for the kits I'm interested in and see what happens.

Yeah that isn't worth $500 also just realized I put down half as $350 instead of of $250 :headslap:

:giggles:

You can’t even see what the other kits are on the far right side of the pic. Besides, I only counted 46 kits, not 49 as the guy told me via text the other day.

Doing the math, 49 kits for $500, works out to be just a bit over $10 per kit, say around $10.22 each. Now for the Trumpeter Condor, that’s a real steal, considering that it goes for many times that price. The Tamiya kits also go for between two to three times $10 each. And for the rest of the others, that works out as a fair price- the Hobbyboss Bearcat, the Monogram TBD, the Hobbycraft JU-88, The Matchbox Lanc.... even discounting the mystery kits on the right... :hmm: Of course that is on the presumption that all kits are complete, unstarted, and have their instruction sheets & decals.

After much debate with myself, I have decided to get only one kit - the Red Star Spitfire. I've been wanting one for quite some time now. I'm figuring it's probably hard to find nowadays. Still, for $15 it's not a bad deal.

I hadn't really thought it out math wise, but you made a good point stik. IF... everything is there decals and all and not started.
