Advice on car kits.

I dont know if we have any car guys on here. But im looking for some advice on selecting a car kit. Ive done 1 car in the past, and messed it up quite badly.
Essentially im interested in doing a LMP2 or LMP3 style car. But theres so much choice, id rather not buy a nice looking kit only to find im in over my head, or even that ive got a sub par kit.
So id like a few pointers from some wheel men to a wing man.
Thanks in advance.

I have built several Formula 1 cars in both 1/20 and 1/12 scales. My one recommendation is that if Tamiya has the type of car you are looking for get a Tamiya. Their automotive kits have the same attention to detail, fit, and finish that their aircraft and armor kits do.

Check out Hasegawa. They carry some LeMans style race car kits.

Thanks guys,
Ill give Tamiya a go. I think they do my favourite car of all time. The Toyota GT-ONE.

Well after some hunting at my LHS i got the 1/20 Mclaren Honda MP4/7. Looks like a nice kit.
My next question is best place for AM decals? Zero sponsorship decals in the box.
