I agree with Carlos and Gary, the seat will truly enhance the cockpit as is, especially after washes and dry brushing. This bebe is coming along nicely! Great first week progress Bruce!

Good to be back, Lyle. I made some significant progress last night. I’ll need to take a few photos but I’ve identified the inverted step as being a part of the fuselage bottom gap, I needed to temporarily glue the fuselage together with the cowling using white glue. Next I’ll need to check the fit with the lower wing. There is also a slight mismatch up on top of the fuselage visible with the seat opening. I’m trying to get a handle on the least invasive way to fix both issues. Yeah these are what we today would call “short run kit issues.” The lack of locator pins is actually a blessing—I can see why the seat has no locator at all because you need to eyeball straight by looking through the opening of the cockpit itself. Eduard did a solid by not forcing the seat into a specific location.

also I was thinking I know that I’m going at a very deliberate pace but I’m not here to showcase or heaven forbid show off, I’m here to learn. I also don’t want to slap putty on some mold defects. Maybe I should try heating the plastic in hot water? I’m not sure. Any ideas?

Best case fix for those gaps, rubber bands or clamps to close them while the glue dries and sets. Worst case I’d say use some strip styrene shim(s) to fill the gaps.

From what I see in your pictures this gap wasn’t there earlier. So I think you should find what part you added that caused this issue and trim that so the fit will improve. I always rather take a bit more time trimming and test fitting than filling and sanding.

You, sir, are absolutely correct in that the platform for the cockpit hinges into the fuselage was interfering with the fit. I did not have one side properly seated under the... seat. Now I do.
