Last night and this morning I applied the decals, which all went onto the capsule portion of the craft, including all those little red hash marks.

One other thing that I did was fill and sand smooth the attachment holes for the upper portion of the Equipment Section. Afterwards I had to repaint it



Then I airbrushed on a coat of Satin Clear to seal in the washes on the Retrograde and Equipment Sections interiors







One thing that I noticed in the decals was a bit of mislabling in the instructions. Especially with the red hash marks. But if you look at them carefully and match them up with the shingles you can overcome that speedbump easily enough. So far the decals have presented the only true "gigs" with this kit so far. And those are easily dealt with.

Looking good! Are you going to treat those "United States" logos with some more decal softener? Looks if they not really get sucked into the recesses where they are placed.

Nice work on those decals. I know how it feels to add a lot of little decals like those hash marks to a model. Well done. I can't wait to see this at the next IPMS meeting.

Thanks Mark! Right now my current hold up is the decals. Each Solvaset coat fixes one bunch of bubbles, but new ones appear. I am slicing and popping holes in all I find, but still having problems.

So how many bottles of solvaset have you used so far?

Great work so far, ive been looking for this kit but so far it hasn't surfaced in my usual haunts.

Solvaset in gallons? I need to find one of those if I keep building all these ancient kits! My bottle is running a bit low right now.

Well I am not thru with my original bottle of Solvaset yet. But aside from online, I have no idea where to buy a replacement when this bottle runs out. The shop where I bought it went out of business last year... and I have not seen either of the other local shops carrying the stuff.

Could always buy it from the source.
The stuff i have comes in a clear plastic bottle with red writing, but this stuff seems to be the same thing.
