Thanks, Carlos. Are the pieces all from the same kit? It’s hard to tell but the fuse halves are darker in color, which could be as a result of sanding which removed the gloss surface. Perhaps bad QC from Hasegawa.

For filling big gaps, styrene shims are my preferred method. Putty doesn’t have the same lasting power.

Today was good progress on my Johnson Jug… I got the seam filling all cleaned up and sanded smooth

Then after that I added the horizontal stabilizers and a few other small bits to finish up the main airframe construction

I have the cowling almost wrapped up and ready to add to the airframe. Next week, more progress… ;)

Very cool Carlos, I do like a nice Thunderbolt. Good job on filling that gap, I used that method a lot too.

Man that sucks about the warpage. I didn't have that with mine but I do have a problem with the front windscreen fitting.

I’ve had best results from this technique compared to putties or gel CA.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll keep an eye out for when I get there… which should be in a few days. Gotta get the canopy dipped in Future then masked up first, so that’s at least a day or two…

Finally some progress worth posting… ;) I had dipped the clear parts in Future a couple of days ago. Today I masked them up then glued the windscreen in place and tacked the canopy hood in place. I also added the cowling.

Image

This evening I primered it all up… black in the wheel wells and on the canopy framing, then a coat of gray primer over everything.

Next up will be some white primer for the cowling front and tail ID stripes…

Carlos! Congratulations on your beautiful prep work for this Doom-Child! What a fantastic opportunity to watch you take something that was shelved and bring it back together! Bravo!

Did you have issues with the front windscreen?

It looks like it doesn’t quite fit 100% smooth with the canopy hood… :hmm: But I’m planning to display this one with the canopy hood open…
