Yeah I think there's a couple of national holidays in August - but I'm off on hols for two and a half weeks at the end of July anyway.

And you're dirty doggin' me. lol.

Today's progress:

I shot a primer coat on the door panels on Tuesday, a Tamiya X-7 Red coat on Wedensday and a Gloss coat on yesterday. Before today:


Still gotta pick out the details and BMF the door panels but I also managed to 1.)strip the hood, dry and primer that ,2.) strip the rear door and repair not only the bottom of the door but the top where it broke on me this morning???!!!!!Wow! and 3.) paint the center insert of the door panels. The boo-boo at the bottom of the door panel wont be seen as the seat will take care of hiding that.

Looking good so far Joe! I still struggle with the gloss finishes. I think I may have gotten one of mine good enough to move on. You've been keeping me motivated to keep going with your phenomenal work.

That gloss coat is indeed superb Joe!

Mark: It's all in how much patience one has. I've stripped my hood and rear door twice already and as of last night I stripped the door panels and started over. To me paint is a little more forgiving in military aircraft building. I can cover a boo-boo up with some weathering. Here in the automotive world it's harder to get that perfect mirror finish and imperfections are easy to spot. It's not an impossible thing though and like I said, it just takes a lot of patience as sometimes.....several redo's. I do appreciate the words of encouragement though bud. It's times like last night when they really help.

Well, I have patience in abundance it seems. I've gone way beyond a few re-do's: I've stripped and painted my Monkeemobile seven times before I got a finish that was "good enough" so far. My Corvette was stripped and repainted nine times already and I need to do it again. My VW bus so far had been the easiest with only three strips and re-paints. I just started the painting on the Mach 5 but it's white so we'll see just how many times I'll have to re-do that one!

I'm glad I was able to help in some small way. I'm looking forward to the next progress post.

It took me a little bit to learn and it was a great confidence booster when I finally pulled it off Mark. Hang in there buddy!

I've been working on my PE electric cooling fan from Model Car Garage for the last few days and finally got it underway. I still need to run the electrical ckts to it but the base fan is completed.

I'm also continuing work on my interior door panels which have given me a lot of grief. I've stripped them 4 times so far. Just wasn't happy with the way the paint was behaving. I used acrylic for the white inserts and after I applied the gloss coat to seal it all in the acrylic paint started cracking. Then it was a masking issue that looked really bad and then I had a paint boo boo that went to crap when I was sanding to correct it. You know, the typical stuff. I used white primer this time around as a base coat so we'll see what happens this time round.

Again those unbelieveble details such as this cooling fan!

It looks so detailed, that I could even believe it can rotate just watching the pics!
