Ok here is an idea:

The GB will be open to all subject categories, you can choose to redo the kit, the scheme, or both.

Since kits have been discontinued you can chose another manufacture to represent the scheme you did.

Markings have been discontinued while the kit itself still exists so the build could be focused on rebuilding the kit.

Sometimes both are long gone so for this is to find the same aircraft/car/ship/tank/etc from another manufacture and match the scheme. Now if the exact decal markings are not available then find something that is similar f/e: paint scheme from the same unit / colors and placement.

The final category: restoration, if you so choose to restore a kit you built then this is for you!

This should focus on you and your improvement over a span of time. It would be great to post a picture of the original to compare to what you are building now, whether it be one picture or five or how ever many although it is not required since the real judge is you.

Sounds cool... but I am under the impression there are two basic options of approach here: 1, take an old build and redo it up to a higher standard; 2, buy a new kit of something that you built long ago, and build it to your current skill level.

That was another one I did, way back in the day! Within my first 10 builds....so, right around the same time as yours!
I remember that one, a General Lee and the Paddy Wagon, Walker Bulldog...then I was ALL about aircraft!

Oh yeah, I’m all for it. Now if I can only find a kit or two or three from my youth years I’ve been been wanting to do a do over....

Either way you want to approach it. You don’t have to restore the old model, you can get a new kit or find another kit of it to do it better. But it comes down to what you want to do.

Like my Avenger I built was a Hobby Boss kit but I didn’t get to finish it when I moved and then it got damaged beyond repair anyway. The scheme was from decals I purchased online so for my redo I need to get those decals again and redo the scheme on an Accurate Miniatures TBF/M-1C kit.

The GB will be pretty laid back since the point is improving on the past. Also it won’t have an end date either since if someone joins up tomorrow and a year later wants to redo a kit, the GB will be there.

I will redo my 1/72 BAe Hawk I first built somewhere in 1983 or so...



I have still saved it, hence some dust etc. Brush painted with Humbrol enamel paints..

I have in my stash this one waiting, also with Finnish Airforce markings.

Cool, I have a few in the stash that I built as a kid and will do again... and a few that are at the very least are in need of a new paint job and decals...
