dont have to be black, just dark. Ive used dark brown, dark grey, and even dark green.

Very good point. My suggestion would be to make the base a darker variant of your darkest top color. Black is best for WWII US armor and anything of a Panzer grey variant, but brown is a much better base under tan and Panzer yellow. I've mentioned before that I've been very partial to the "black-base" technique when it comes to armor. All my armor builds posted on the site were done this way, to include my never finished, perpetual M7 Priest build, (just one more crew member......)

I'll admit, being fairly new to aircraft, I have yet to try it.

So USAF Euro scheme id use a dark green?

I haven't tried the all black priming yet but it looks like something I'm gonna have to try soon.
