Here's a pic of My parents kitchen table circa 1984-85

This is my first bench when I got back into the hobby. You can see the Osprey, my first kit, in progress.

I’ll play too! I think that my dad took this photo back around ‘78 or ‘79… My work area back then was a shelf on a shelving unit in my room. (or sitting Indian styled on the floor) In my hands is a Hawk F2H Banshee, and on the shelves you can see a Monogram TBD Devastator and Aurora P-61 Black Widow

I remember doing a Huey Gunship kit by Revell. I know it was larger than 1/48 scale. I did the Cobra one too. I’d love to grab another vintage Huey Gunship kit again.

Yeah, I've also been looking for that Kiowa for a while as well.

That's funny cause I was looking for the Academy Kiowa today. Saw someone's build on Facebook of it and it made me want one.

I recently found out my grandparents’ house where my workbench was is up for sale. Found out by accident driving by the house which I do make a slight detour on my courier route after stopping at one of the schools I deliver to.

If you look at the first photo I posted (the sideways one ), on the far right side you will see sewer pipe of sorts - slightly behind the display case.

This is the cellar today:



My workbench was directly behind that pipework. Back then, my grandfather repair clocks and his bench was on the right side front facing pipework.

When I checked out the house on realtor.com, I was shocked that cellar was a total gut out. I was happy to see the house still had all the original doors and windows but disappointed they were painted white including the original door frames and window frames. (I also just found out the house was built in 1915. I knew it was an old house but didn’t realize just how old it was.)

However.... the kitchen was remodeled yet all wrong. It made no sense why they change the location of the cabinets, kitchen sink and refrigerator location. The stove is right where it has always was.

I called my sister that night and told her. She and I reminisced out years spending countless memories over that house. It was our happy place and had too many memories there. Yes, we were that close to our grandparents and I still miss them to this day. I had said if I ever won the lottery I was going to buy that house and give it to my sister when she retires from her teaching job in Maryland. LOL! I better stop before tears starts falling and I can’t see a damn thing while typing. LOL!

Someday... but I can dream of getting that old house again.

Kind of sad when that happens.
