According to Scalemates, the original Eduard 109E kit dates back to 2012, so it’s fairly recent in the grand scheme of models.

You can do nice builds with rattle cans, you don’t have to wait until you have airbrush.

And some guys use brushes. Just look at the great work BSYamato does with a brush.

Quickboost does some nice and inexpensive resin for a Bf 109E:
Item # QB 48 172 Spitfire Mk. IX control sticks
These are sticks from a Spitfire, but possible could fit your Swiss 109.
Then there are correct radiators:

With CA glue and some basic tools, it can be made to fit...
