People have blogs. And lots of folks also post elsewhere. We're just gonna have to accept and get over it. I don't mind the link at all. Anyone who would judge a model based on whether AM or scratchbuilding was used is an idiot. Those folks have deeper issues as we all know... Good to see you updating your blog, Jim.

This is a great subject for a discussion, as I said above. Here is my addition to that. Yes Jim, you have a blog, and there is nothing wrong with a little self promotion. I think many of us do that in one way or another, whether we have blogs or something else. But this place is a comparatively small forum and it can get pretty slow at times due to the smallness. We truly need threads and conversations that get the members involved here! Maybe that will attract a few more new members, or get some of the newer members here who are not active to open up and throw in their say. Perhaps you can copy and paste a smaller version of what you say on your blog here, like you do with your build threads you do for magazines. Just get the talk started here as well on something so near and dear to all of us.
I guess my point to this is let's help promote SPAM. This is a great site because it is what other sites were, but have lost, and most of us gathered here to create that again. Let's all make it bigger and better.

I can remember how it is to subscribe to a forum, read the first couple of threads and realize that everyone seems to know each other well. It's like arriving at a party where the only person you know is the host. In every room you see some people stay in circles, talking and having fun. It costs some of us quite an effort to join in and participate in one of those chatting groups.

Like Stik said: Let's keep our circle open and don't let us be those cool guys who are making their own party in the kitchen, loitering around the fridge and looking angry at everyone we don't know. (excessive formality )

No one here falls into the group of people I was talking about. And none of you exhibit the attitude I'm talking about either. So it wasn't directed at anyone....here or anywhere. It's rhetoric. Hell, Owl is just about my favorite modeler with her ingenuity, imagination, and no fear attitude. I really admire that and she scratch builds the hell out of things, but she has absolutely no air of "I'm better" for it about her either. Like I say, it's not about what you do or how you do it. It's how you hold yourself.

Owl, when it comes to your approach to modeling, you've got big brass balls! For a girl you can take an ancient Hawk kit, dress it up any way you see fit with whatever you please to come up with a striking "what if" build! And have fun all the way there! Simply great stuff!
Then there is Fermis, the McGuyver of aircraft modeling... Give him an empty beer can, a rusty straight pin, and some old headphones, and in two weeks he will make a kit look like it is ready to fly!
